Wild life

Ok, so while the rest of the world is in between thawing and freezing, here in Florida, we are hitting the summer stride.  Not bragging but it's round about 80 now and some interesting wildlife have begun to show themselves.

This post has nothing to do with the cars, but my very brave or stupid husband gets most of the credit for the photos in this post!!

If you've been following along, Joe got me a REALLY nice Canon camera for my 10th year cancer free party and I've been trying to "learn" depth of field (above) and flowers are an awesome target as they don't move as much as the kittens!!!  Now it's a lovely morning and I look out on the rapidly receding water line of the man-mad pond behind our house and see a group of the turtles that sun themselves there and think, cool picture:

As I turn the other direction, I see:
do not adjust your screens, it is blurry because my hands are shaking!!  So I take a deep breath and try again:

By this time, I'm feeling great that I got a clean photo and not eaten besides Minion (kitten for those who don't know) is fussing at me from inside the screened enclosure, so I go in and show the pictures to Joe.  He takes the camera and proceeds to get closer.  *Small disclaimer here folks, he is still 4 houses away with a zoom lens fully extended*

Still a 6 to 8 foot gator coming at you is VERY frightening.  As the thing started coming at Joe, I yelled and he hustled back into the enclosure.  He wanted to take pictures of the gator slipping back into the water, but I have to admit, I freaked and yelled at him to come in.

And of course the turtles all bolted with the humans outside the enclosure as well!!

I cropped some of the pictures, but if you click on the photo itself it will expand and you can get a much better view of the wildlife!!
