Tranny!!!

YAY!!!!!  SO guess what arrived today via 18 wheeler down our little bitty street!!

It's a transmission, silly!!! I thought THAT was obvious!  LOL, just kidding.  Joe had found this LOVELY 6 speed MANUAL transmission for the coronet project for an outstanding price and like the 6.1L Hemi, we could not pass it up.  So, Joe left work early and I waited not so patiently at work for word of the delivery.

It came with the hydraulic throw out bearing (in the small box with the stuffing) and in the big box, we got a clutch:
and a pressure plate:

The transmission came out of a wrecked 09 Challenger and the bottom photo is the manufacturer tag identifying it as a Tremec 6 speed manual.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CATastrophe of kittenastrophe?

We had a small accident yesterday...  Early in the morning, I guess Sansa had reached up on the headboard and looked like she may claw it and Joe tried to grab her under her front "arms" when she slipped or spooked or twisted and landed on my sleeping face with claws out.  I have three SUPERFICIAL scratches on my left cheek, but nothing that will scar or disfigure me forever.  However, I was sidelined on the couch with and ice pack while Joe took apart the front front of the coronet motor....

Ok, so he took off the fan shroud and the fan.  The alternator and the air cleaner thingy!  He also took off the a/c compressor and power steering pump.

More later when are there more "hands on deck", plus I'm not a fan of him being out in the garage doing too much without a spotter.  God forbid a car shift and crush him!!

Progress!!

So, with the excitement of yesterday past, we kicked it into gear so to speak and made a pretty big figurative dent in the front end! I don't want any one to think we dented the front end....  Luckily nothing broke!!

This is something we SHOULD probably disassemble at some point,  it basically the front clip with the "eye sockets" LOL, I mean the headlight assembly....  It will need to be blasted and painted/powder coated before going back onto the car.
Passenger side fender is now off and safely tucked away in storage.  It makes Joe crazy but I have to re-arrange the storage unit regularly, but if not I fear we will not have enough room for "everybody"

I mean we literally have 4 different car parts in there, the 65 Fury, the 70 Coronet, the 300 donor car parts and a few from the 66 Charger.....

So here is the offending fender!! LOL, it was easier to take off than the drivers side and NO creepy spiderwebs...

After we managed that, we took off the hood:

You may remember I have the "Power Bulge" hood in storage that needs a little work, but we are not so sure if the PB will "fit" with the 6.1 Hemi, so I will keep the flat hood as spare parts for now!

 Hood hinges

Hoodless horseman!!  LOL!!

We obviously left the passenger side door and glass alone for right now.  After the drivers' glass incident, I think it best we leave to another day!  With most of the front end now in storage, we were able to push the Coronet in even farther giving us MUCH needed breathing room in the garage....

Because.....

Joe has purchased a 6 speed manual transmission that is on its way from Texas!!!!  It came out of a newer Dodge Challenger and should bolt right up to the 6.1 Hemi....  that leaves the problem of the donor car being AWD and as we understand it, AWD is NOT compatible with manual transmissions, BUT I don't drive automatics!!!

Wild life

Ok, so while the rest of the world is in between thawing and freezing, here in Florida, we are hitting the summer stride.  Not bragging but it's round about 80 now and some interesting wildlife have begun to show themselves.

This post has nothing to do with the cars, but my very brave or stupid husband gets most of the credit for the photos in this post!!

If you've been following along, Joe got me a REALLY nice Canon camera for my 10th year cancer free party and I've been trying to "learn" depth of field (above) and flowers are an awesome target as they don't move as much as the kittens!!!  Now it's a lovely morning and I look out on the rapidly receding water line of the man-mad pond behind our house and see a group of the turtles that sun themselves there and think, cool picture:

As I turn the other direction, I see:
do not adjust your screens, it is blurry because my hands are shaking!!  So I take a deep breath and try again:

By this time, I'm feeling great that I got a clean photo and not eaten besides Minion (kitten for those who don't know) is fussing at me from inside the screened enclosure, so I go in and show the pictures to Joe.  He takes the camera and proceeds to get closer.  *Small disclaimer here folks, he is still 4 houses away with a zoom lens fully extended*

Still a 6 to 8 foot gator coming at you is VERY frightening.  As the thing started coming at Joe, I yelled and he hustled back into the enclosure.  He wanted to take pictures of the gator slipping back into the water, but I have to admit, I freaked and yelled at him to come in.

And of course the turtles all bolted with the humans outside the enclosure as well!!

I cropped some of the pictures, but if you click on the photo itself it will expand and you can get a much better view of the wildlife!!
