Back on track FINALLY

OK so who ever said restoration was easy LIED!!!!  If you want to attempt this DO NOT get an AWD donor car.  That doesn't work at all and try to get a running donor car.

We are heading in a completely different though similar direction.  Since the shop we were going with was unable to use the parts we amassed, we decided not to proceed with them.  Beyond cost prohibitive and entirely too much time and effort for something that will never be "worth" what we would spend.  I am OK with spending $30-50K on a car we will drive to shows, out to dinner and generally have a great time in, over $100K?  Not so much.  I'd be afraid if it left the garage and that isn't why this family has cars.  No trailer Queens here!!

We have all but abandoned the "body swap" idea for the aforementioned reasons and we are going forward with a new plan of attack:  Alter-K-tion front end, 8 3/4 rear end and still putting the 6.1l Hemi and 6 speed manual trans in it.  Still using the interior of the 300 and some other parts we salvaged from the wreck.  Hey we got the thing for a song, why not cannibalize as much as we can out of it?!?!?  I'm not sure what we are going to do with the SRT-8 independent rear suspension or the full front suspension but I'm sure someone may want to purchase it; I hope.

So the Coronet left just before the 4th of July to go to her "new" TEMPORARY home in Brandon called Hot Rod Services.

And they made really short work removing the motor and tranny which we traded for an 8 3/4 rear end.

The rear end is a 742 casing and I understand that is a desirable one.  Not a bad swap for a 318 non-running block, I think.

We took a truck load of parts down there, just the two hoods and fenders which we had removed and kept in storage.

So here is what is left of my baby!!   LOL, not much and some rust.  Luckily the car is solid where she needs to be and most of the rust is superficial says the guy who knows these things!!  Most of the parts are available to purchase from AMD or other sheet metal and we are going to attempt to remove the entire floor from the 300 because it will have the correct transmission tunnel and save us some fabrication if Hot Rod Services can use any of it.

So, that is where we are now.  There WILL be updates as we finally make headway on this very stalled project.
